Core Equipment Core Support Unit
We offer a large collection of laboratory instruments and training on how to use them.
The Core Equipment CSU offers you round the clock access to a wide range of equipment for sonication, imaging gels, quantifying enzyme kinetics, setting up 384-well plates and many more applications. All our equipment is regularly monitored and maintained, ensuring optimal performance.
Central services, such as supplies of dry ice and liquid nitrogen, are also managed by the facility.
We stock and manage a consumables shop that provides you with access to a variety of common lab items (e.g. gloves, pipette tips, cell culture dishes, and more). The store is accessible 24/7.
Our services include:
- Comprehensive training and support for equipment during regular working hours. Trained users can book the equipment easily in advance through our online booking system.
- External users can use some equipment for a low fee or at no cost, if they have completed training and the instrument is available. External users can only use equipment during normal working hours. Please contact cf-equipment(at)imb-mainz.de.

Acknowledgements/Co-authorships
“An acknowledgement of the Core Facilities in your publication is important and more than just a nice way to say thank you. Your acknowledgement matters!”
Acknowledgements are the currency by which Core Facilities are measured: they help us prove our value and our contribution to research results. Acknowledging Core Facilities shows that we are important partners in the scientific community, and it allows us to maintain funding and make further investment in the Core Facilities. In the case that Core Facility staff members have contributed significantly to your research project, we ask that you treat them the same way you would treat any other collaborator and consider a co-authorship.
In accordance with DFG recommendations, we furthermore ask that you acknowledge any instrumentation that is funded through a DFG major instrumentation grant by including the corresponding project number.
